Marvel is a different cinematic universe than it was fifteen years ago. Over the span of 31 movies, the studio has taken risks, implemented canonical changes, and introduced comic book characters fans only ever dreamed of seeing on the big screen. Marvel’s gumption is without question, but the studio’s brazen handling of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania has taken boundary-pushing too far. Case in point: M.O.D.O.K.’s butt (there’s a phrase we never thought we’d say.)
Recommended VideosYes, we’re talking about that scene. That moment in the movie where M.O.D.O.K. is lifted out of a vat of goo during a flashback sequence and his itty-bitty Minion-like tushy is exposed to the world. There was once a time when fans argued the legitimacy of M.O.D.O.K.’s live-action debut, but we’re passed all that now. There’s nothing left to do now but accept our fate.
Indeed, one can’t help but wonder what the conversations were like in the visual effects department that week as an entire group of people bid their families farewell each morning to slave away at recreating an accurate depiction of M.O.D.O.K.’s butt.
Never in our lifetime did we think a character whose name stands for Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing would go on to rival Stever Rogers as the beholder of the best beefcake. Forget America’s a**, we present to you “the Quantum Realm’s a**.” No, really, we’re not kidding.
It’s hard not to conjure up the scene from Minions in which Stuart shakes off his shorts and struts his stuff to the bathtub wearing nothing but a red thong.
Hurry, someone call Martin Scorsese. This is “peak cinema” at its finest, folks.
No? Can’t get a hold of Scorsese? That’s fine, toss the bat signal up in the sky, will you? M.O.D.O.K.’s keester is in need of some serious justice.
If you find M.O.D.O.K.’s butt (we’ll never get tired of saying that) too much to handle, don’t worry you’re not alone. The feeling can be summed up best by Cassie Lang herself.
If every movie could find a way to incorporate M.O.D.O.K.’s Minion-butt into the storyline as it did Stan Lee’s cameos, then hey, there could be hope for Marvel to turn things around yet.
M.O.D.O.K.’s butt Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is currently showing in theaters.
