A grand-opening event for the newly opened Island Gourmet Markets at The Shops at Wailea is planned for Saturday, with a blessing scheduled for 9 a.m. and festivities throughout the day.

The lifestyle market located near the East Wing stores will appeal to both residents and visitors alike with its premium products and friendly, comfortable environment. Regular hours of operation are from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. daily.

“We’ll be running some specials, such as ahi poke from our fish section, and present a sampling of all different items,” says Neil Ishida, director of public relations, about the grand-opening.

Island Gourmet Markets features Hawaiian gifts and treasures, an espresso bar serving fresh fruit smoothies, Paia Gelato and gourmet pastries from Sugar Bake Shop. There are also fresh premium cuts of meat and seafood, including ahi, marlin, Atlantic salmon, more than 10 types of poke, crab and lobster tails. Those looking for a quick bite to eat on the go can enjoy fresh sushi and bentos and items from the Island Kitchen, including a grill menu with hot entrees, custom sandwiches, salads and more.

Also enjoy gourmet items from Hawaii and from around the world. Food connoisseurs will be able to indulge in the exquisite deli selections, including a variety of gourmet cheeses, along with a nice selection of premium wines, spirits and craft beer.

“This will be a great addition to the center, the Wailea community and Maui,” says General Manager, Brian Yano.

Besides offering premium products, Island Gourmet Markets emphasizes green energy.

“Our new market will promote environmental compatibility with use of the energy-saving, highly efficient photovoltaic systems” said Paul Kosasa, ABC Stores president and CEO.
